On June 10, Sinotruk held 2008 (midyear) sales working conference.  At the conference, Ma Chunji, chairman of Sinotruk said, implementing National III Emission Standard was a rare opportunity to have for the development of heavy truck market.  Sinotruk had made adequate and comprehensive preparation for launching National III Emission Standard products; we not only had common-rail National III Emission Standard engines, but also today grandly launched the EGR National III Emission Standard engine with a brand of independent innovation, which created new advantages for us to grasp market opportunities.
The sales conference was about implementation of the policies of national automotive industry, commonly dealing with the special stage of the switch of National III Emission Standard as well, analyzing and studying the current market situation and mading deployments of realizing new business development in the second half of the year, with practical action to support anti-earthquake and disaster relief and Beijing Olympics.
From January to May this year, Sinotruk produced and sold 63,000 heavy trucks and realized sales income breaking through 22.6 billion yuan, isncreasing 45% and 59.3% respectively compared with the same time last year, with new historical level created again for every production and operation target.  Among which in peak months, the production and sold volume came to the highest level in history with 15,000 trucks per month and the Group realized one month ahead of the half of the whole year’s target of production and sales, which made a solid foundation for the Group to strive for the whole year’s target of production and sales of 125,000 units.  After Wenchuan Sichuan huge earthquake happened, the staff of Sinotruk promptly organized and carried out the activities of donating money and goods and handing in special party fees.  Sinotruk actively responded to the call from the central, provincial, and municipal governments, did well in anti-earthquake and disaster relief on one hand and grasped production and operation on the other hand.  Under the circumstance of full production task, Sinotruk gave first priority to the production of anti-earthquake and disaster relief trucks and mobilized the staff to work overtime to produce anti-earthquake and disaster relief trucks.  Sinotruk had donated money and goods of total worth 16,420,000 yuan including 40 dump trucks and water sprinklers and so on that are being used in anti-earthquake and disaster relief.
Talking about the current market situation, Ma Chunji said, after the implementation of National III Emission Standard, heavy truck market would appear temporary falling-back, but the market would turn into increasing quickly, it would not possibly appear reversal falling-back and the overall sales situation would still be with good opportunities.
Ma Chunji said, the implementation of National III Emission Standard was an important measure to promote domestic heavy truck quality and realize the connection with international level as soon as possible, which was helpful in realizing the target of promoting the level of overall heavy truck industry in China and was an important requirement of building a country of environmental protection.  In 2006, Sinotruk National III Emission Standard products first passed through the certification of Ministry of Environmental Protection in Beijing.  Now in the cities of Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai etc with National III Emission Standard being implemented ahead, Sinotruk common-rail National III Emission Standard engines were fully recognized by large number of customers.  It took nearly two year for Sinotruk to finish EGR engines from technology development to mass production, and the production capacity has reached to 10,000 units per month.  Sinotruk EGR engines were with obvious cost-effective characters and Sinotruk became the only heavy truck company with independent innovation brand of EGR engines domestically.  Since EGR engines were approved by National Development and Reform Commission formally, Sinotruk had sold more than 1,000 heavy trucks with National III Emission Standard EGR with the good effect of fuel saving,, which were applauded by the customers.  In order to market National III Emission Standard products, Sinotruk made full preparation for engineering of the product, matching with the truck, and constructing for service networks.  Now there are 64 variants of trucks with National III Emission Standard that were published by National Development and Reform Commission.  With the emphasis on National III Emission products, Sinotruk further perfected the after service system with additional advanced auto testing equipment and intensified training for the service persons.  The success of research and development for EGR engines further strengthened the independent innovation capacity and core competitiveness of the company and Sinotruk would take National III Emission Standard products on market as an opportunity to further optimize product structure and provide safer, energy saving and environmental protection products to customers.
He said, during the remaining 200 odd days this year, Sinotruk would take following measures to realize steady development under new market conditions.  First, Sinotruk was further to build a steel marketing network system, focusing on strengthening the work of refitting network building and striving to reach a refitting capacity of 100,000 units next year.  Second, focus is on the implementing of National III Emission Standard, Sinotruk would carry out series of marketing and promotion activities including product road show, training on operation and maintenance services and so on.  Third, Sinotruk would increase support to the marketing of special market. Sinotruk would take special measures for the disaster relief trucks in disaster areas to satisfy the needs of reconstruction after quake and ensure high quality and high level trucks to be delivered to customers on time;  Sinotruk would make great effort to seize trucking and logistics markets of supplies of coal, electricity, oil, gas and so on and make best effort to get the market potential of tractors and special trucks; at the same time, firmly taking the opportunity of promoting anti-earthquake and disaster relief responsive capacity nationwide, Sinotruk would do well in researching and developing trucks demanded by market and provide high quality and high level trucks to customers.  Fourth, Sinotruk would continuously expand overseas market, regulate its operations in international markets, carry out export business according international rules, and promote Sinotruk reputation on international markets.  Fifth, Sinotruk would further strengthen the policy support to dealership and refitting companies; at the same time, Sinotruk would make good preparation for the work of next year and speed up technical renovation projects to lay a solid foundation of producing 22,000 trucks per month in peak months next year.
At the conference, Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Limited president Cai Dong analyzed heavy truck market situations when overall implementing National III Emission Standard in second half of this year, he focused on the introduction of Sinotruk National III Emission Standard products and proposed requirements concerning accomplishing targets of overall marketing plan 2008.
